Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse to get physical 3DS copies with exclusive game content

Why does this genie hate pirates again?

Rising Star Games will be bringing 2014’s Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse to retail for the 3DS on the same day its non-3DS-supporting sequel Shantae: Half-Genie Hero release, September 27 and in Europe just three days later. This retail release will feature a new “arcade-style game” called Super Shantae Nab!!, though no details of what exactly that is have been released at this time.

Rarely if ever have I seen a game be boxed up so long after release, but 2016 is a crazy year where an orange man might be elected president, so anything could happen.

Releasing a physical copy on the same day the sequel releases also seems almost like a cash grab, especially considering the new content was not described whatsoever in the press release we were sent. Most likely nothing worth double dipping for or paying a premium as the boxed copy costs $10 more than the $19.99 3DS eShop release. I wouldn’t mind being wrong, though.
