Ubisoft’sĀ Hyper ScapeĀ is shutting its doors. The publisher confirmed that it’s ending development and theĀ game will shut down on April 28, 2022.

“We set out to create a vertical, close-quarters, and fast-paced shooter experience and we are extremely grateful to our community for joining us on our journey,” reads a message from the Hyper Scape team. “We will be taking key learnings from this game into future products.”

The team also thanked its community for their passion and dedication to the game.

Hyper ScapeĀ launched into open beta in July 2020, with a full launch to follow in August of the same year. It also launched into a genre that was already pretty crowded, with giants likeĀ Apex LegendsĀ andĀ Call of Duty WarzoneĀ in the same arena.

While it had some good ideas, it seems like things never came all the way together forĀ Hyper Scape. Updates seemed to have slowed down over the months, as the site’s newsfeed indicates, and now the battle royale will see its doors shut for good.

There are many, many more free-to-play shooters currently on the docket for Ubisoft. And though the writing may have been on the wall forĀ Hyper Scape, it’s still a shame to see a game quietly go away like this. It might just be a sign of the times, as battle royales seem to be waning in favor of a new wave ofĀ Escape From Tarkov-alike game modes.

Either way, get yourĀ matches in now if you’re still looking to play.Ā Hyper ScapeĀ closes its servers on April 28.
