I know what you’re thinking at a glance, but today is somehow only Wednesday — so this PC game deal isn’t one of those weekly offers from the Epic Games Store. Instead, we’ve got a 24-hour claim-it-and-keep-it free promo for SteamWorld Dig 2 on GOG and Steam.

To get SteamWorld Dig 2 for free, you can follow this link or head straight to GOG’s home page — you’ll see a “get it free” banner with a countdown partway down, and you just need to nab the game within the 24-hour giveaway period to keep it permanently.

As for the Steam version, it’s just a matter of adding it to your account. You’ve got until 11:00 a.m. Eastern on November 11, 2021. I hope you’re reading this in time.

If you haven’t played SteamWorld Dig 2 yet, I implore you to do so if you have any affection whatsoever for metroidvania games, action-platformers, or digging gameplay. The “dig, explore, collect, and resurface to sell” loop is so much fun. It’s hard to put down.

I consider this to be one of the best metroidvanias out there, and just hearing its name again makes me want to fire it back up for a full playthrough. I liked SteamWorld Dig 1 a lot, and you should play that too, but you don’t strictly need to finish it first.

The SteamWorld series (including SteamWorld Heist!) rules. I’m rooting for The Gunk, too.
