The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time‘s remaster is out, seemingly capturing the magic of the original and possibly even more. Fans have stumbled upon a puzzling new version of Link the developers definitely didn’t have in mind. Time to meet the new member of the Zelda family.

In the original Ocarina of Time, Link only ever gets the silver gauntlets chest once he’s become an adult. In the remaster, he’s only supposed to get it as an adult as well, but he can actually get them as Child Link via a glitch that triggers a very unique time paradox-like reaction.

Since Link’s only ever supposed to get these as an adult, getting them earlier on will cause the game to fit the adult Link’s model into the tiny one, a desperate move that will seriously impact his looks.

Some are calling this new creature “Child Adult Link,” others named him “Lunk.” but everyone is cherishing his miraculous birth, regardless of how unintentional it might’ve been.

Better yet, Lunk is seemingly not even the only new somewhat Link-shaped lifeform in the game. Some other fans have shared it’s also possible to create a reverse form of Lunk, which creates, ugh… Adult Child Link? Lank? I don’t know what to call it, and I don’t even know how you get to morph your Link into this other version. What I can definitely tell you is what you’ll be thinking as soon as you lay your eyes on it, which is that it also looks hilarious.

And look, puberty is a strange phase for everyone. It’s actually completely normal that either “new” version of Link looks pretty awkward. There’s a reason why the original timeskips from kid Link into his adult version. Still, this accidental addition makes the remaster even more nostalgic, as it can now remind the many of us who enjoyed the original during our strangest times that things would eventually turn out fine.

And, even if that’s not enough, there are even some fans who are liking “Lunk” for what he is, pointing out his resemblance to a very popular Internet figure.

Though Nintendo’s take on the remaster’s aesthetic left the fan base considerably divided, this is exactly the kind of thing that the whole community will enjoy and possibly even elevate into an all-time meme—something all 10/10 games deserve.

You can now play the Zelda Ocarina of Time remaster on the Nintendo Switch 2.
