Heart Machine has set a date for its next project, as today the studio announced Solar Ash will launch for PlayStation 4, PS5, and PC via Epic Games Store on Oct. 26, 2021.

Solar Ash is the latest from Heart Machine, the studio behind 2016’s Hyper Light Drifter. Set in a 3D world, Solar Ash has even more traversal options, but still has a similar colorful, vivid, surreal style you might associate with Hyper Light Drifter.

The release date was announced alongside a new trailer during today’s Annapurna Interactive Showcase:

According to the description, Solar Ash will see your protagonist journeying through a surreal and stylized world, with high-speed traversal and massive enemy encounters. Its focus on movement and massive enemies reminds me of another Annapurna-published jam, The Pathless, and if Solar Ash has similarly fluid and fun movement, I’m definitely interested.

There’s been some footage around for a while now for Heart Machine’s latest, and it’s exciting to see Heart Machine finally set a date for its launch. Between the world and the speedy movement and traversal shown off in the trailer, and those really cool character designs, this could be one to watch for in the middle of the fall release season.

Solar Ash will launch for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC via the Epic Games Store on Oct. 26.
