Capcom’s new 3DS game is a super salad of insanity

It looks like Capcom has managed to pack just about everything ever into their upcoming title, Nazo Waku Yataka. There’s a DJ scratching mini-game (seen at 1:19), a voice command-based kendo battle (seen at 1:51), little kids swearing in Japanese (seen at 2:09), an American-stereotype with a flame beard swearing in English (seen at 2:23), a cat man (seen at 2:46), creepy crotch shots (seen at 2:54), and shout-out to the classic survival horror series Clock Tower (seen at 3:09). That’s just seven of the game’s +50 levels.

The focus here is on sound. You’ll hear cues and commands in “three dimensions” via the 3DS’s equivalent to surround sound, and depending on the level you’re playing, you’ll either have to respond with a vocal cue of your own, use the 3DS’s gyroscopic controls to find where the sound is coming from, or do something else. The game prides itself on using each and every feature that the 3DS offers, which promises to be interesting at the very least.

Now we just have to see if Capcom will offer the game to overseas audiences. Based on the profitable histories of the Feel the Magic and Wario Ware games on Nintendo handhelds, I think it’s a safe bet that Nazo Waku Yataka would make it’s money back in the states if Capcom would give it a chance.
