The Scottish highlands are home to many creatures of the wizarding world. One of those includes the Giant Purple Toad in Hogwarts Legacy. Despite a ghastly wart-filled back, this creature help can provide powerful upgrades to your gear.
Once treated with your brush and fed, the creature will give you Toad Warts. They can be used at the Enchanted Loom for new traits. Here’s where to find the Giant Purple Toad in Hogwarts Legacy.
Giant Purple Toad Hogwarts Legacy location
A Giant Purple Toad den is thankfully not that far away from the Hogwarts grounds. To the east of the castle, you’ll find Aranshire. It’s a hamlet that stays by the railway tracks. Fast travel to the Floo Powder location in that settlement. Once you’ve spawned, you’ll want to get on your broom and ride it under the railway bridge. Go north from Aranshire, and you’ll find a bunch of Giant Purple Toads hanging out nearby a waterfall.
How to catch a Giant Purple Toad in Hogwarts Legacy
To get the Giant Purple Toad in your Nab-Sack, you will need to exercise some patience. Despite its large structure, the Giant Purple Toad can hop around the area quickly and out of range from your Nab-Sack. To stop the reptile from moving, you can use Levioso, but if you’re further into the game and have more access to spells, Arresto Momentum can freeze the animal in place as well.
Once you’re close to the animal, equip the Nab-Sack and follow the prompts three times to catch the Giant Purple Toad in Hogwarts Legacy. Now, head back to the Room of Requirement to set your captured animal free. After being treated with a stroke of your brush and being fed, each Giant Purple Toad will give you three Toad Warts. The cooldown time, however, is a long 30 minutes, unlike the quickness of brewing a Wiggenweld potion in 15 seconds. If you want to farm Toad Warts, place multiple Giant Purple Toads in the Vivarium.
Another way to get Toad Warts
If you have a lot of money and don’t want to spend time nurturing Giant Purple Toads, you can also go to the Brood & Peck in Hogsmeade. The shop sells Toad Warts and other ingredients like Unicorn Hair and Niffler Fur. You can purchase the Toad Warts for 400 Gold each, which is quite expensive. However, if you’re in a hurry and don’t want to wait for the long cooldown between redeeming Toad Warts, this can be a good option.
