There might be AMD chips in your next Xbox

Recommended Videos

The word is that AMD has struck a deal with Microsoft to put their chips in the next Xbox product. In a way, your current Xbox, the Xbox 360, has AMD chips in it, as the company merged with graphics chip company ATI awhile back. It seems that Microsoft liked the 360’s GPU so much that they were happy to work with ATI again.

Oh, and there’s supposedly backwards compatibility built in these new ATI chips. That’ll be nice, won’t it?

So when’s this new Xbox coming? The rumor is 2012, so let’s hope your 360 keeps on ticking.  Hey, I’ve got a related question on the new Xbox: WHO IS WORKING ON THE COOLING AND RELIABILITY?
