How to complete the Rescue Mission in Disney Dreamlight Valley

To complete the Rescue Mission quest, which is a key step for unlocking Oogie Boogie, you need to find all five fake green furniture items, have Zero help you learn some of Oogie Boogie’s secrets, and craft a special concoction to help you deal with him. There’s quite a variety of tasks to work through for this one, so here’s a full breakdown of everything you need to get done throughout this mission.

Complete all prerequisite quests
To unlock the Rescue Mission quest, you first need to fully work your way through all of Oogie Boogie’s other missions. There’s quite a lot to get done before this task will become available, including:
- Completing Halloween Invasion.
- Completing The Oogie Boogie Contract.
- Completing The Ghost in the Portrait.
- Unlocking Zero.
Once all of these missions are complete, head to a mailbox near any of your valley homes to accept the letter for the Rescue Mission quest. As soon as you open it, this task will officially begin.
Visit Oogie Boogie
With this mission now underway, head to Scrooge McDuck’s shop and go through the glowing green mirror to enter Oogie Boogie’s lair. Locate Oogie Boogie inside and chat with him to get things moving.
Investigate the weird decor

Oogie Boogie’s up to more mayhem, so look around the Mirror Lair to find and interact with five fake green furniture items. Locate and interact with each one to progress to the next step.
Speak to Oogie Boogie and Merlin
Next, you need to chat with some characters to move on. First, have a chat with Oogie Boogie inside the Mirror Realm. Then, exit this special area and seek out Merlin around your valley. Chat with him to move on.
Equip Zero as a Companion
You’ve put together a plan, but it’s not one you can tackle on your own. Open the Wardrobe page, locate the Companion section near the very right end of the top row, and find Zero under the Notable Companion section. Click on him here to equip him to your side.

Distract Oogie Boogie by talking to him
Now that you’ve got a loyal helper prepared to lend a hand, head over to Oogie Boogie in the Mirror Lair and chat with him to distract him. While you do this, Zero will sneak around and sniff out his weakness for you.
Pick up the Oogie Boogie Diary
While sniffing around, Zero will find a special item that reveals some big secrets. Locate and pick up the Oogie Boogie Diary on the first floor in the Mirror Lair to progress.
Go fishing in the Lava Pond

Oogie Boogie’s Diary reveals a recipe you can make. Before you can get to work on it, though, you need to find some key items. Head over to the large lava pit in the center of the first floor and equip your Royal Fishing Rod. Then, toss the line into each of the ripple spots to catch:
- One Lava Core
- One Skeleton Fish
Talk to Goofy
Next, seek out Goofy around the valley to ask for one fragrant, perfectly tended flower, a Dandelion, which is needed for this crafting recipe. Make sure you also have 10 Dream Shards before moving on.
Make some Extra Strength Bug Spray
With all of the required resources now obtained, head to a crafting station. Click on the Oogie Boogie quest icon to locate and make the Extra Strength Bug Spray item. Make two of them to check off this task, then seek out Merlin and Scrooge McDuck to give each villager one.
Speak to Oogie Boogie

Meet up with Oogie Boogie again and have another chat to officially wrap up the Rescue Mission quest. You’re closer than ever to unlocking him, but there are still a couple of tasks to get done before he’ll finally join your village.
While you wait, there are plenty of spooky seasonal tasks to keep you busy. Some good ones to work on are the Haunting Elegance Star Path and The Haunted Floating Festival, which is packed with tricky missions like Haunted Library Puzzle #7, the Haunted House Pillar Puzzle, and Release the Curse Haunted Key Puzzle #6.
