How to complete A Halloween Invasion in Disney Dreamlight Valley
To complete the A Halloween Invasion quest in DDV for Oogie Boogie’s special unlock questline, you need to meet Oogie Boogie for the first time, help him repair his Lucky Wheel, give it a spin, and clean up the mess it makes. It’s quite a lot to get done, so here’s a full breakdown of the entire process to help you through it.
Complete all prerequisites
To start Oogie Boogie’s questline and usher in an era of spooky chaotic fun, you need to check off a couple of key requirements around the valley. Here’s everything you must have done to begin this mission.
- Unlock Scrooge McDuck’s shop.
- Unlock Chez Remy.
- Unlock Goofy.
- Unlock the Peaceful Meadow biome.
All of these key tasks happen very early on in the game, so as long as you’re not a super new player, you should be good to go. With these tasks complete, check your mail to get the first notification for the questline.
Visit Scrooge McDuck’s shop
There’s something strange going on in the valley. Head to Scrooge McDuck’s store wherever you have it placed in the valley to investigate the situation. Once there, chat with Scrooge McDuck about what’s going on.

Investigate and go through the Strange Mirror
Inside Scrooge McDuck’s shop, you’ll find a Strange Mirror. After chatting with him about the situation, interact with this item to check it out, then go through the Strange Mirror to see what’s waiting for you on the other side.
Talk to Oogie Boogie
In the Strange Mirror dimension, you’ll find Oogie Boogie waiting for you. Walk up the stairs on the left side of the room and over to him so you can then chat with Oogie Boogie. Introduce yourself and see what’s going on to progress.
Try to interact with the Lucky Wheel
After chatting with Oogie Boogie, approach his Lucky Wheel. Attempt to interact with it to get it working. Unfortunately, it’s broken, so you now need to get to work helping him fix it. Chat with Oogie Boogie again to discuss what to do next.
Gather Fear Essence by removing Whack-a-Pumpkins
The Lucky Wheel needs some handy Fear Essence to get it back up and running. Follow Oogie Boogie over to the game in the middle of the room on the second floor. Once you’re there, chat with him to learn how it works.
Play Whack-a-Pumpkin until you have enough Fear Essence
Once you know how the game works, equip your Royal Pickaxe to prepare. Then, hit the switch on the right side of the game area. Run at all the Pumpkins that pop up around the board and remove them using your Royal Pickaxe. As you do, they’ll drop Fear Essence for you to collect. Keep playing until you have 10 Fear Essence. You may need to play more than once to get enough, as not all Pumpkins drop them.
Spin the Lucky Wheel
Bring the Fear Essence back to Oogie Boogie by his Lucky Wheel once you have enough. Now that the wheel is fixed, you can actually use it to get the fun started. Interact with the Lucky Wheel to spin it. Unfortunately, doing so causes a bit of chaos to be unleashed throughout the valley, so chat with Oogie Boogie to learn what happened and get to work fixing it.
Clear Oogie Boogie Bugs and remove Sweet or Spooky Pumpkins
Your Lucky Wheel spin caused some pesky Oogie Boogie Bugs to be released around the valley and some ominous Sweet or Spooky Pumpkins to pop up around the area. Because of this, you now need to find and clear a total of seven Oogie Boogie Bugs and eight Sweet or Spooky Pumpkins.
- Three Oogie Boogie Bugs can be found inside Mickey’s house.
- Four Oogie Boogie Bugs are located inside Goofy’s home.
- The eight Sweet or Spooky Pumpkins can be found around the valley. They can be found around the Plaza and Peaceful Meadow biomes. You can break each one using your Royal Pickaxe. Random amounts of Fear Essence drop from some of them.
Return to Oogie Boogie and give him more Fear Essence
Getting rid of all the Oogie Boogie Bugs and Sweet or Spooky Pumpkins rewards you with more Fear Essence for Oogie Boogie. Head back through the Strange Mirror in Scrooge McDuck’s shop to meet up with Oogie Boogie and give him 20 Fear Essence. Then, spin the Lucky Wheel again and claim your reward from the chest that spawns nearby.
As soon as you finish this task, the entire A Halloween Invasion quest will officially be complete. This is only the first step in the process for unlocking Oogie Boogie, so be prepared to take on fresh missions weekly to recruit him to your valley.
