New Nintendo 3DS likely coming February 13

Pre-order open tomorrow, only for the XL version?

Ahead of tomorrow’s Nintendo Direct, GameStop sources have told Ars Technica that the New Nintendo 3DS is indeed releasing in the US on February 13–just in time for Valentine’s Day–and that GameStop will begin taking pre-orders tomorrow.

Additionally, the retailer will be giving $75 and $100 respectively for 3DS and 3DS XL trade-ins towards the New 3DS.

That the ad only includes the XL version of the New 3DS, rather than the face plate compatible New 3DS could have something to do with reports of Nintendo phasing out the smaller sized 3DS in favor of the 2DS.
