My Nintendo’s 30% off birthday coupons are limited to select games

Splatoon is on there though

As reported from a user on Twitter who recently obtained a newly minted My Nintendo 30% birthday coupon in North America, the promotion is, as expected, limited. Not only does it only apply to digital titles, but you can only choose from a select list (that you can peruse below).

Nintendo is in a very weird place with loyalty programs. As a general rule, anecdotally from friends and through my own personal experience, most Nintendo fans scoop up the few and far between (these days) first-party releases when they come out. So when the time comes to be rewarded for their purchases, they already own everything on the ticket.
