You can find a Windup Inkay deep underwater in the dark region located beneath the main Bubbly Basin area. This item is hidden away inside a red Pokeball sitting on the ground in the deep dark area located near the large, ruined ornate building and bridge close to the eastern end of the region.

Tracking down the right location for the Windup Inkay is tough, so here’s a full step-by-step breakdown of how to make your way to the right spot to acquire this item.

  • Start at the Pokémon Center. This is a good, central location to begin your journey.
  • Go up the large staircase. Exit the area with the Pokémon Center and swim back underwater. Once you’re in the central Bubbly Basin region, look for the large, grand staircase. Swim up it to start heading in the right direction.
  • Continue north until you spot the large, ruined ornate building and bridge. After reaching the top of the stairs, head north and keep going in this direction until you see the large, dilapidated red building and a ruined bridge off to the side near it. Swim over to the large gap situated by both of these landmarks.
  • Venture into the deep dark undersea area. Approach the large gap near the landmarks, then dive down as deep as you can go to access the dark underwater region that lies below. As soon as you enter this area, your map will switch from the standard Bubbly Basin one to the dark undersea map.
  • Look for a small gap in the wall near some glowing purple coral. It’s quite tough to see down there, but look for a tiny gap in the wall close to some illuminated purple coral. Head through this gap.
  • Follow the path until you find a rock wall. Once you’re through the gap, follow the path forward until you come across a rock wall on your right side.
  • Use Rock Smash to break the wall. Select the Rock Smash move from your ability wheel and use it to break through the wall.
  • Interact with the red Pokeball. On the other side of the wall, you’ll spot a glowing red Pokeball sitting on the ground. Interact with it to obtain a Windup Inkay.
