Japanese players spend more on Pokemon Go on average, but the US is an overall cash cow

$26 on average per player in Japan

According to a study from app tracker Sensor Tower, Japanese Pokemon Go players spend more money on average than any other country on the app.

Clocking in at $26 per player it’s the figure to beat compared to the US’ $7.70 or Canada’s $7.60. However, the sheer amount of US players allow its revenue to tower over the rest of the world — it’s raked in an estimated $424 million compared to Japan’s $318m.

That’s still highly competitive for the latter though, and indicative of Japan’s huge shift toward the mobile arena. Pokemon Go might have died in a lot of individual households (I struggle to play it still as many of my partners in crime have quit), but it still has legs over a year after its launch.
