The F-35C Lightning II is one of the strongest aircraft to use in Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve, but unlocking it will require a significant amount of effort. While you can get it without any microtransactions, the real challenge is the sheer number of upgrades to unlock.
In this guide, I will explain all key steps required to clear to unlock the F-35C Lightning II.
How to unlock the F-35C Lightning II in Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve
The key step begins with the F/A-18C, since this will be the starting node. All subsequent unlocks on this required route begins with the F/A-18C.
- You’ll find the F/A-18C Hornet in your hangar since it’s available to all for free.
- Next, keep working until you get the required MRP for buying all upgrades and the Mirage 2000-5. The Mirage costs 130,000 MRP, but you’ll need more for the upgrades.
- Next, purchase a Super Hornet. You can pick between the F/A-18E or the F/A-18F. I went for the former, but they have similar profiles. Each costs 240,000 MRP.
- Unlock all upgrades and parts until you reach the EA-18G Growler. This aircraft alone will set you back by 350,000 MRP.

Once you complete all the steps mentioned above, you can now buy the F-35C Lightning II for a whooping MRP of 550,000. While the price is pretty high, this one of the best multirole aircraft in the entire game. It’s fast, agile, and comes with decent firepower. I have enjoyed using it in the multiplayer fights so far, and it’s a good choice for beginners.

Getting this aircraft is also required for you to eventually get the X-40 Nightmare, so that’s a nice bonus to unlock along the way. If you’re looking to improve your roster and unlock more aircraft, refer to this guide.
