What a spooky transformation

Primeape has kind of been a slept-on unsung hero in the Pokemon franchise. Sure it was featured in episodes of the anime, but really, that first generation fighting monkey got me through a lot of battles. So this one goes out to you Primeape: who got a new evolution in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

Here’s how to find a Primeape and then trigger the Annihilape evolution!

How to find a Primeape in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

The easiest way to start this whole evolution line is to head straight for a Primeape that’s roughly the level you need (35). If you search the region north of Medali, you’ll find ample amounts of Primeapes to catch, most of which are at or around level 35. This will make everything for the next step much easier.

Alternatively, you can get a Mankey (which is scattered all over Paldea), and level it up to 28, which will grant you a Primeape.

So this process is a little wacky, but trust us: we’ve successfully gotten an Annihilape.

Upon reaching level 35, Primeape will learn the “Rage Fist” ghost type move. All you need to do is use that move 20 times (yes, the PP is 10, so you can go back to a Pokecenter and restore it), and it doesn’t matter if the move even connects (there are myriad Meowths/Persians to whiff Rage Fist on right above Medali, on the road to the mountains).

If you used Rage Fist 20 times, then leveled up, you’ll evolve your Primeape into an Annihilape.
