Fresh screens of Resident Evil: Revelations

Recommended Videos

Bad news first — these screens are totally lacking in their “puking zombies” quotient. The good news is, they look fantastic, somewhere between Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5 quality. Then again, you never can tell with screenshots for a portable. I though Okamiden looked like ass until I finally saw it running on an actual DS. There is a good chance that Resident Evil: Revelations will look even better in real life as well, especially with the 3D turned on.

I just hope they don’t overdo it with the “flying into the foreground” stuff for the sake of 3D. Anyone who’s ever seen Dr. Tongue’s 3D House of Stewardesses can tell you, obvious abuse of the 3D effect can really take you out of the moment, and instead force your mind to notice that you’re being pandered to. That shot with Jill flying into the air towards the camera is a bit suspect.

Still, the Resident Evil fan in me can’t help but be thrilled with the prospect of Jill and Chris teaming up again. Combine that with puking zombies (again, not shown here, but you can see them in the 3DS trailer) and I’m sold, regardless of the shameless Dr Tongue-ness that may come with them.
