Destiny 2 Pit of Heresy Dungeon Loot Pool: Weapons & Armor

Come for the Dungeon, stay for the armor rolls

When it comes to Dungeons in Destiny 2, Guardians can chase the Heartshadow Exotic sword in Duality or the Gjallarhorn in Grasp of Avarice. But in regards to armor, the Pit of Heresy has players covered. Though the Dungeon might be overshadowed by the spectacle of what followed, the Pit of Heresy tends to drop high-stat armor. This makes it a perfect spot for Guardians to gear up before attempting Master Dungeons in pursuit of Artifice armor. On top of stellar armor rolls, players can also find the weapons featured on the Moon alongside a unique exclusive: the Premonition Legendary pulse rifle.

Bungie debuted the return of the Moon and the Pit of Heresy Dungeon as part of the Shadowkeep expansion. The first piece of content after Bungie parted ways with Activision, Shadowkeep had some ups and downs. Notably, its Raid, Garden of Salvation, is among the game’s most despised because of unforgiving mechanics compounded by persistent bugs. That said, the Pit of Heresy Dungeon counters that experience with a thrilling descent bookmarked by five uniquely engaging encounters.

Of course, if players want to take on the Pit of Heresy for themselves, they’ll need to own the Shadowkeep expansion and have already completed the Campaign. Beyond that, since the content sits at 1600 Light level, even New Light Guardians shouldn’t have too much trouble descending into the Pit, so long as they have a Fireteam to back them up.

Farm the Dreambane set

Contrary to other dungeons in Destiny 2 that present exclusive armor sets as rewards, the Pit of Heresy offers the standard Dreambane armor set. The same can be commonly found on the Moon. Despite not being shiny and unique, the armor available in this Dungeon boasts significantly high stats, especially while it is the featured weekly Dungeon. Considering players can alter the appearance of their armor to any other look they’ve ever acquired, there’s no reason players shouldn’t spend time trying to nab some sweet rolls from Pit of Heresy. Unless, of course, Guardians are all geared up and ready to challenge a Master Dungeon for some coveted Artifice armor.

How to farm effectively

For guardians eager to farm this Dungeon, there’s good news. When Pit of Heresy takes the spotlight as the featured weekly Dungeon, it opens up unlimited loot-farming opportunities. As with any serious farm, Guardians should set aside at least an hour or two alongside a like-minded Fireteam. While players can target any encounter they want, the final boss, Zulmak, exclusively drops armor when Pit of Heresy is featured. This makes it perfect for guaranteeing a high-stat armor piece each run.

  1. Progress through the Dungeon until Zulmak is reached.
  2. Have one Guardian switch to another character and rejoin the Fireteam.
  3. Initiate the encounter and then wipe to earn the checkpoint for the character that just joined.
  4. Now that both characters have the checkpoint, the swapping player can return to their original character, rejoin the Fireteam, and complete the Dungeon.
  5. Return to orbit and have the swapping player switch back to the character with the checkpoint. They can relaunch the Dungeon starting at the checkpoint.
  6. Once everyone’s loaded into the checkpoint again, the swapping player can change back to whichever character they want to receive the Dungeon’s loot, continuing to preserve the checkpoint in the process. This can be repeated for as long as Guardians like.
