3DS is taking fog effects very seriously, guys

Oh, so you thought Nintendo was one of those casual, carefree companies when it came to videogame fog, did you? How dare you!? Nintendo takes fog effects incredibly seriously, so much so that the 3DS has a special chip made for it that will allow devs to use them with ease. 

The revelation comes from D3 Publisher, currently preparing Dream Trigger 3D for the handheld. A rep for the company explained that the 3DS has fog effects built into a chip, so if a developer needs volumetric fog for a particular level, it’s right there on the console for them. If we don’t see a Silent Hill game thanks to this, I’ll throttle somebody.

For some reason, I think this is really cool, and I don’t know why.
