Zip Lash may be ‘the last chance’ for Chibi-Robo

That’s the latest word from Nintendo

I have a browser tab open for a used copy of Chibi-Robo, and I don’t trust myself to walk away. It’s one of the few GameCube games I regret missing. But $60, if I’m lucky? I don’t know.

My mind is on the delightful household adventure title because of a quote about the series’ future from Nintendo. Speaking to The Verge, producer Kensuke Tanabe said Chibi-Robo: Zip Lash for 3DS “might be the last chance for us.” Even with the grappling-hook gameplay and adorable Chibi-Robo amiibo, I don’t feel great about those odds.

“I’ve continually thought about ways to build this [series] into a mainstream success,” said Tanabe. “We’ve challenged ourselves in assorted ways along those lines, but I can’t say that we’ve found the answer yet.”

If our little robot buddy has to find a new home, I hope it’s in Pikmin.
