You can now buy eShop games on Nintendo.com

Pre-orders are also supported

As pleasant as it is to hear Nintendo music while shopping for games digitally, sometimes you just want to get in and get out — no fanfare needed. Here’s our alternative at last.

It’s now possible to buy certain 3DS and Wii U games directly from Nintendo’s website. Just look for the orange “buy digital” button on the right. Not everything’s supported yet — some titles like, say, Castlevania: Circle of the Moon will still need to be bought on the eShop — but it’s progress.

After making a purchase through the website, you’re able to either redeem a download code or have the game sent to whichever system is associated with your Nintendo Network ID. Digital pre-orders for titles such as Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker are also now a thing.
