The creator of that impressive shiny Pokemon automator, dekuNukem, writes in to say that the machine has been improved since we last covered it. Here’s a look at the new, final version.

The amount of human input needed has been further reduced, resulting in a system that can catch shiny Pokemon in various states (while walking, surfing, fishing, or in a horde encounter) and continue after nabbing the coveted creature. What’s more, the breeding process — including depositing hatched eggs into the PC — has been automated. My goodness!

“It might look like a lot of work for a kid’s game, but to me it was more of a great exercise of microcontroller-related topics, I had fun making it, and learned a lot, so it’s far from a waste of time at least to me,” says dekuNukem. “I have made the program open-source so those who has what it takes can build one themselves, and I will not sell it.” It’s Pokemon. We understand.
