TGS: Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater hitting 3DS in 2011

Konami has officially announced that Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater will be arriving on the 3DS some time next year. It won’t be an enhanced version of the game with updated visuals, if Konami is to be believed. Instead, the game is said to be a faithful port of the original PS2 game.

I’m strangely okay with that. Snake Eater is one of the best games of the last generation and my personal favorite MGS. A faithful port onto a handheld system is pretty cool, and I think a mixture of old ports and brand new games is going to really help the 3DS get a great, varied library together.

What do you reckon? Are you okay with this, or do you think ports are weak? In any case, I can’t wait for 2011!
