Valve $50’s steam stream box
Steam’s Link is out today and while the svelte black box lacks defining features like pointy ears and an emerald green tunic, people are digging it. Our own Chris Carter seems pretty fond of the $50 box, which is meant to serve as a simple way to stream your Steam games from your main PC to, say, your living room television.
And so here’s a cute, Team Fortress tinged commercial with the gang playing Rocket League, Cities: Skylines, Gang Beasts, and even Street Fighter IV during open heart surgery.
My only question with regard to the Steam Link is: do a lot of you have an extra bedroom dedicated to gaming, or something? I figure there’s two places folks are liable to have a nice computer: 1) in their bedrooms, because they don’t have living rooms, or 2) in their living rooms.
I guess if there’s a separate living room computer desk away from the television and you don’t want to string 20ft of HDMI across the room it makes sense to nab one of these. I just opted to stick a gaming PC next to the TV and work off a laptop. But still, more specialty options for folks who can afford them and benefit from them are fine, I suppose. Who’s rearing up for either a Link or a full-fledged Steam Machine?
