Squint: Hidden-object game Mystery of the Crystal Portal

Where’s Waldo? I have no idea, but I can see something over there. *moves cursor* Aww, that’s nothing, I guess.

The Mystery of the Crystal Portal is a hidden object game coming to the PlayStation Network next week, on July 6th. In it you’ll play as journalist Nicole Rankwist, whose archeologist father disappeared during his study of the mysterious Crystal Portal. You’ll travel the world, looking for hidden objects that will uncover more clues that will help you find your lost father.

G5 Entertainment calls this a brain-teaser, and they call it “brain-bending” in a trailer that we saw on the PlayStation Blog. The gameplay has a twist in that hidden objects in each scene are brought together in sets, and often objects of one set will be revealed only after you find all objects of another set in the same scene. You’ll be able to zoom in and out in several locales within six countries. You know that if you squint too much, you’ll get wrinkles.

This PlayStation mini will be available next week for $4.99 for both the PSP and PS3.
