Sorry angry Mega Man fans, EX Troopers is not Legends 3

Last week Capcom unveiled a rather unusual new project. E.X. Troopers is a cel-shaded third-person shooter with a manga-style art direction. Sounds plenty Japanese, but not exactly out of the ordinary. Oh, did I forget to mention it’s a Lost Planet spin-off?

While few might have guessed Capcom’s interstellar colonial war series had an association with E.X. Troopers based on looks alone, some fans had a sneaking suspicion that the forthcoming 3DS and PS3 title was the “reanimated corpse of Mega Man Legends 3.” Not so, says Capcom’s Seth Killian.

Responding to a potential connection between the two games in a forum post over at Capcom-Unity, Killian asserts that E.X. Troopers “is definitely not a reskinned Legends,” claiming it existed prior to the demise of the ill-fated Mega Man game. While he notes that the titles were being developed by separate teams, Killian believes it’s conceivable that there could be some personnel overlap now that the Legends 3 staff has moved on to other projects.
