Say goodbye to the free Pokedex 3D as it will be removed from the 3DS eShop on October 1. Don’t freak out just yet, as it will be replaced come November 8th. Its replacement, Pokedex 3D Pro, has new info on more than 640 Pokemon, and it also features a quiz game on the pocket monsters called Pokemon Challenge. With this new app, you’ll be properly armed for Pokemon Black Version 2 and White Version 2.

Speaking of those, Nintendo unveiled some new features for the upcoming DS games, launching this October 7th. A new area called Join Avenue will be populated by anyone that a player has tagged previously, through trading, battles or otherwise. Rare items will be sold by these players in this area, with the most rare items coming from the most populated Join Avenue areas.

A connectivity feature called Memory Link lets you connect your Version 2 game with a previously played Version 1 game. Players will be able to catch up on the what happened to some of the characters over the two year gap between the games’ stories. This feature will require two systems from the DS or 3DS family, or at least an internet link to a sync’d (Pokemon Global Link) copy of a Version 1 game.

Catching ’em all sounds like more work than ever these days!
