Is Persona 3 Reload on Nintendo Switch?

No but don't lose hope yet

Atlus’ Persona 3 Reload, a remake of the 2006 classic RPG, is fast approaching its February 2 release date. But will any Nintendo Switch owners get to join in on the fun?

As it is, Persona 3 Reload is coming out practically everywhere. The game is expected to launch on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox Game Pass. So what about Nintendo’s gaming handheld?

Will Persona 3 Reload be on Nintendo Switch?

Unfortunately, Persona 3 Reload will not launch on Nintendo Switch come February 2. While not at launch, Persona 3 Reload may find its way to the current-gen console soon. Nintendo, like Xbox, is just getting into the Persona series, as Persona 3 Portable, Persona 4 Golden, and Persona 5 Royal launched onto the consoles last year. Plus, Persona 5 Tactica came out on Nintendo Switch at launch last November. It’s safe to say that a Switch port may be in the works.

Why isn’t Persona 3 Reload launching on Nintendo Switch?

One of the main reasons Persona 3 Reload isn’t launching on Nintendo Switch is because of the console itself. The Switch might not have the correct hardware to house the already-demanding upgrade. May I remind you of Mortal Kombat 1?

Still, in a recent interview with Atomix (translated from Spanish via Google Translate), director Takuya Yamaguchi and producer Ryota Niitsuma, were asked about why the game won’t launch on the console and if a potential port could be done. The two, in response to Atomix, said “Since we began conceptualizing everything that would come in Persona 3 Reload, we decided that there would be no version for the Nintendo Switch. Of course, the idea is there, but it’s a matter of discussing it with the team and seeing what they think about it, and we’ll see what happens.”

It does seem, from the quotes above, that a Switch version was never in the plans at the beginning. However, the two are open to bringing the remake to the console if the team is up for it. It’s not a confirmation but it’s something.

While you wait for Reload, I recommend Persona 3 Portable to quench that Persona 3 thirst. While it isn’t the ideal way to play it, it’s a lot of fun and delivers an amazing story and great gameplay. If you haven’t played Persona 4 Golden or Persona 5 Royal, I definitely recommend those, as they are some of my favorite games and deliver an unforgettable and fun experience that’ll last for a long time.

Persona 3 Reload launches on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox Game Pass on February 2.
