Now you can play games on flights without interruption

FAA relaxes electronics use rules

I fly at least 120,000 miles a year, every year (this year I’m at almost 170,000!) and I’m playing games on every flight. My 3DS looks like tornado debris from heavy use!

A little secret? I NEVER shut my games off. When the flight attendants tell us to power down our devices for takeoff, I leave mine on, putting them in standby mode instead. I did this yesterday while playing Pokemon Y. They’ll never know!

Well, now it doesn’t matter. The Federal Aviation Administration has finally dialed back some of the crusty old rules they had for electronic device usage on flights. As of now, you can leave your devices powered up for take-off and landing. And if the flight offers shitty Wi-Fi, you can use that too.

Passengers will eventually be able to read e-books, play games, and watch videos on their devices during all phases of flight, with very limited exceptions. Electronic items, books and magazines, must be held or put in the seat back pocket during the actual takeoff and landing roll.

Notice that items “must be held” during take-off and landing. Great! So, if you’re like me, you can waddle onto the plane and sit in your seat, never looking away from the screen. You can play continuously, through landing, and continue playing when you reach your destination, like some kind of game-addicted zombie.

Or you can do dorky sh*t on your tablet.
