It’s another retro-tastic celebration

After a jam packed retro offering last week, Nintendo is at it again with another collection of classics. On the Wii U you’ll be able to nab The Legend of the Mystical Ninja, which is my personal favorite Goemon game, and one of my favorite SNES titles of all time. Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr. and Donkey Kong 3 are also on sale for $3.49 until December 12th.

The 3DS is a little more eventful, with 3D Sonic the Hedgehog, 3D Altered Beast (!), and Brilliant Hamsters. On the Virtual Console side Donkey Kong 3 hits the portable platform, and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 hits the retail download section. There’s also a similar Donkey Kong sale, including the addition of Game and Watch: Donkey Kong Jr. Finally, Hooked on Bass Fishing hits DSiWare.

If you missed last week’s installment, here it is.

As for what I’m getting — it’s most definitely Goemon time. Not only is The Legend of the Mystical Ninja is a surprisingly open-ended action-RPG, but it also happens to be one of the most fun two player co-op games ever. If you have a local friend willing to give it a try, take the plunge. It was previously released for the Wii’s Virtual Console, so if you own it, you can upgrade for $1.50.
