Nintendo President Satoru Iwata has shared new information about the upcoming Mario & Luigi sequel for 3DS. The story finds our heroes on Pi’illo Island, where Peach mysteriously gets sucked into Luigi’s Dream World. To rescue her, Luigi must sleep atop special pillow stones located around the island, opening a portal to his mind and allowing Mario to hop in and explore.

While in the Dream World, you can manipulate Luigi’s face on the touch screen to effect changes on the top screen. For example, by yanking on his mustache, mustache-shaped vegetation in the Dream World will be pulled back like a rubber band to launch Mario across the map. There are also “mass” Luigi interactions, such as riding atop a ball of Luigis using the tilt controls. Back in the waking world, Mario and Luigi still engage in battles like in past adventures, only now certain tag-team special moves take on a behind-the-back camera perspective to make use of the stereoscopic 3D.

Mario & Luigi: Dream Team will be available on August 11.
