[Update: Added new 3DS specific trailer!]

Working for a magazine is different from writing for a blog in a lot of ways. Probably the biggest difference is reading the exclusive news from your publication at the same time the general public does. I just got the latest issue of Nintendo Force in the mail and it’s packed with news, comics, and editorial that you won’t get anywhere else.

Case in point — a two-page spread with Nicalis’s Tyrone Rodriguez revealing many of the company’s plans for the coming years. There’s sad news (the WiiWare port of Cave Story was “not successful”) and glad news (multiplatform releases!), but the hottest news was that Nicalis will be bringing Kemco JRPG Grinsia to the 3DS.

Kemco has been in the game industry for a long time, having published Spy Vs. Spy way back when on the NES. Their focus in the last few years has been on premium priced 16-bit-sytle RPGs for iPhone and Android, with Grimsia being one of their best. Tyrone has been teasing this for a while, hinting that the game will have some form of new musical arrangement. Hopefully I’ll be able to hold him down at PAX and get some time with game in a few weeks.
