Mega Man Legends 3: Prototype preview in Nintendo Power

Mega Man Legends 3: Prototype Version might have been delayed from launching alongside the 3DS eShop on June 6, but Nintendo Power isn’t making the wait any easier with its preview in the latest issue.

It’s been said before, though some people still aren’t aware, but this prototype is a prologue in much the same way that Case Zero was a prologue to Dead Rising 2. There is content here that won’t be in the main game, and it will serve to bring even folks who’ve never played a Legends game up to speed on the story.

You take on the role of newcomer Barrett, leader of the Bright Bats gang — Mega Man will not be playable in the prologue, which makes sense as he is still stuck on the moon following the events of Legends 2. You’ll play through several missions, including rescuing civilians from Reaverbots, escorting other newcomer Aero around town, and battling rival gang leader Bullbreath as well as Tron Bonne and Roll.

The original Legends games had a very awkward tank style control scheme, but it looks like Legends 3 will play more traditionally. The 3DS circle pad will be used for general movement, the R shoulder button for shooting, A for melee, and Y for Barrett’s dash / wall climb technique.

There are more details at the link below, including a possible connection between Barrett and Roll’s grandfather Barrell. Check it out and get hyped!
