Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine is suing Activision over his appearance in Band Hero, claiming he did not agree to be portrayed the way he is in the game. Adam, sorry to break it to you, but you actually do sound like that!
His suit closely resembles that of Gwen Stefani, as he argues that he only agreed to sing his own song, “She Will Be Loved” and was unaware that he could be made to sing any other song that appeared in the lame spin-off. He seems particularly annoyed that he wasn’t consulted about singing songs with female vocals, arguing that other artists were. He’s not a Spice Girls fan, I take it.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a music industry suit without money coming into play. Levine alleges that other musicians were paid more money than him to appear in the game — probably because they are other musicians and he is Adam Levine. His full charges consist of fraudulent inducement, breach of contract, violation of the common-law right of publicity, and unfair business acts or practices.
I like one Maroon 5 song in the world and it’s not in Band Hero. I should sue ’em for that.
