What do we have here? Resident 1001 Spikes lover Jonathan Holmes brought this tweet to the rest of the team’s attention. He initially speculated that we were looking at an update to last year’s sharp platformer. Then Nicalis sent us a video of Shadow of the Ninja from the NES, along with these gifs:

So we don’t know! Holmes says that 1001 Spikes creator Samu Wosada is a big fan of ninja games, but that’s a loose connection. We’ll let you know more when we do.
