To complete Scrooge McDuck’s Dig It quest for the Dreamlight Parks Fest event, you need to mine a total of 10 minerals from around the valley. There are lots of different resources you can find through mining, but only a very specific collection of them counts for this tricky task.

Completing this quest from Scrooge McDuck is essential if you want to tackle the Mine Time! task and unlock the Mine Cart Popcorn Bucket. It’s one of a couple of unique mining-related event tasks he has for you.

Outside of this duty, you’re not generally tasked with finding minerals, so you likely have no idea what type of materials you’re searching for. It’s a lot easier to get this one done once you know what you need to acquire for Scrooge McDuck.

What counts as minerals in Disney Dreamlight Valley?

Only Gems count as minerals in DDV. This is a bit confusing since items like iron, gold, and zinc are classified as minerals outside of DDV, but don’t work for the purposes of this specific task.

There are plenty of different minerals you can find around the valley, and additional options if you also have DLC like The Storybook Vale or A Rift in Time installed. All shiny variants of Gems count for Scrooge McDuck’s Parks fest task too, so you have plenty of options to choose from.

Here are all of the minerals you can mine from rock nodes throughout DDV.

Other items you can mine from rock nodes like Stone, Coal Ore, Ton, Zinc, Iron Ore, Copper, Quartz, Crystal, and Gold Ore don’t qualify as minerals in DDV. For the purposes of this quest, you solely need to focus on finding Gems around the valley.

There are plenty of other tricky tasks to work on in this event like Mirabel’s Critter Snaps task. You also might want to tackle some duties like Squirrel!, Oh, BotherCraftily Ever After, and Destination: Imagination if you’re interested in unlocking some special items.
