Rockstar Games, you’re up. And it’s about damn time.
The storied developer is finally ready to show of Grand Theft Auto 6 to the world, officially, for the first time outside of a couple of trailers and screenshots…and several unfortunate, low-quality leaks.
Say what you will about Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar, how long the game has taken to be shown off, and everything in between (all opinions are valid): the fact is, GTA 6 is likely the biggest entertainment release in my lifetime or yours. It’s a big deal, and eyes around the world will be tuned in. Data analysis firm Sensor Tower’s latest report says GTA 6 has already sold 4.5 million copies and made $446 million in revenue, and after today, those numbers will probably jump quite a bit.
But if you can’t watch the big show on Netflix, we’ve got you covered with the info and reactions here. Buckle up. Fire up your Netflix account (or your friend’s account) and get ready for the first of its kind on the streaming platform: “An Extended Look” at Grand Theft Auto 6.
GTA 6: An Extended Look reactions and live blog

The day has finally arrived. Follow along below for live updates and reactions coming in across social media and the internet from everyone seeing GTA 6 in action (officially) for the first time.
Live updates

- 3:15pm CT: To wrap things up for now the full video joins YouTube tonight, what did you think? Was it worth the wait? Are you excited by what you saw, or are you canceling your pre-order? Let us know in the comments.
- 2:40pm CT: One of my main takeaways is that the game looks outstanding visually, and that was apparently just base PS5 footage? Seems like the PS5 Pro will be the move either way, but for now, GTA 6 has impressed many with its long-anticipated first real deep dive.
- 2:36pm CT: In general, the reactions are very positive. The game looks great. It’s indeed GTA, but with a new level of visual fidelity and open-world detail that we likely have never seen before. Later tonight, GTA 6: An Extended Look will be available on YouTube for all to enjoy.
- 2:28pm CT: The reactions are pouring in from across the gamersphere:
- 2:27pm CT: A final montage as the showcase wraps up. It looks awesome. GTA 6 logo appears on screen, “Captured on PS5.” And that’s that. Now, to watch it all over again! The game is re-confirmed to launch on Nov. 19.
- 2:26pm CT: Lucia is in trouble, and Jason is on the way. Gunmen have the VIPs pinned down, and it’s up to Jason to save the day, which means some well-placed headshots. The level of detail as debris and papers fly, Jason picks up a gun and his jacket moves naturally as he moves through the building, slowing down time like Max Payne to take down some enemies. Snap to Lucia getting choked, surviving with a QTE, then escaping to save herself before she’s tackled down an elevator shaft.
- 2:25pm CT: The VIPs are doing drugs and not joining Jason. Lucia is watching a speech to celebrate “Megamundo’s first corporate headquarters on American soil,” and oh! Gunfire. Here we go again. Jason fights unknown gunmen in painter’s suits as he attempts to keep his client alive. Lucia texts him and the message pops up on screen in a stylish way.
- 2:23pm CT: Petra Navarro, CEO of Megamundo. A new character introduced as Jason and Lucia continue up to a penthouse as the big-wigs do business. Now Jason is on his own, listening to some lovely elevator music and exploring another floor of the building they’re in.
- 2:21pm CT: Jason and Lucia now must “babysit” a guy named Andres de Leon. He’s a hugger. How nice. Jason is the driver, and now another cutscene kicks into a new mission as they drive around at night, showcasing Vice City’s Miami-style nightlife. Parties, dancing, more racing, a crowded club, Lucia dancing with a drink in her hand.
- 2:19pm CT: Another montage. A fanboat driving through the glades! Jason playing basketball, backflipping into the water, Lucia kayaking, and more. Races! A quick look at a wheel that allows the player to equip or unequip a mask, hat, and more. More bank robberies. Crime, crime, crime all the time. A kid jumps out of a car filming, talking to his “chat” as he filmed a stunt while hiding in the trunk of a car. Lucia shooting targets, then racing on a motorcycle. She base jumps off a high building, and then INSTANTLY switches to Jason on the other side of the city. There’s a lot going on!
- 2:17pm CT: A quick look at the weapon wheel as Lucia selects a molotov cocktail to torch their car as they switch vehicles to avoid the cops. Again, more typical GTA stuff.
- 2:16pm CT: The characters’ facial expressions, eye movement, and general motion capture is top-notch. Next-level stuff, some of the best I’ve seen. Visual fidelity is not in question here, but performance? That remains to be seen.
- 2:15pm CT: Jason and Lucia are joined by a friend, and more cops have arrived. Time to go! Lucia drives while Jason gets in the backseat with an assault rifle, gunning down a chopper and more police as they chase the trio. The action is quintessential GTA mission stuff, but notably, it looks like there’s some sway on Jason’s reticle as he aims.
- 2:14pm CT: More random gameplay snippets. Lucia driving as she talks to Jason on the phone, as the scenery rolls by with palm trees galore.
- 2:13pm CT: Jason and Lucia sit down with Brian and a lady-friend. They talk business, but Lucia takes off and now Jason and Brian enjoy a cigar (press R1 to smoke!). More cutscenes, Jason and Lucia robbing a bank with bandanas covering their faces as they steal a car to escape. Lucia gameplay as she watches Jason smash a cashier’s head into the counter. These two are bad people!
- 2:11pm CT: GTA 6 now has 1.8 million viewers on Twitch as everyone tunes in.

- 2:10pm CT: The driving in action. Vice City is dense, full of cars and pedestrians everywhere. The city looks beautiful, but the framerate looks a bit rough…although it’s tough to tell on Netflix. Now a montage, Lucia fighting, Jason eating, more third-person gun combat, Jason exploring Vice City. “Sometimes I’m just more comfortable if I have to use a gun,” Jason says.
- 2:09pm CT: Lucia’s apartment is very pink, and looks to be fully explorable. Jason opened up the fridge and took out a beer and is now watching TV while he waits for her to get ready. It’s full of very silly Rockstar-style ads, and now the duo are headed somewhere together.
- 2:08pm CT: And now we’re off and running! The title screen, Jason and Lucia going for a joyride, and lots of shots of Vice City in action. It appears these two are quite the lovebirds…and notably, everything looks gorgeous, and way better than the quality of any leaks that have been circulating.
- 2:07pm CT: It appears these “cops” are crooked. And Jason and Lucia are now on the run.
- 2:06pm CT: The third-person shooting has begun. Jason has some stellar aim against some “task force” folks who showed up to ruin the drug party. The combat looks clean, like an improved version of GTA 5’s shooting.
- 2:05pm CT: The cops are on the way. Something has gone wrong. The action begins!
- 2:04pm CT: Oh, that’s a lot of drugs on the table in this apartment. A LOT of drugs. Welcome to Vice City, baby!
- 2:03pm CT: Looks like this is going to be a 26-minute gameplay demo.
- 2:02pm CT: Wow, these visuals are absolutely wild. Jason and Lucia are looking to pick up something from some sketchy individuals. Crime in my GTA 6?! No way!
- 2pm CT: A quick refresh and I’m in…except an ad is playing first.
- 2pm CT: Uh oh. Netflix error NSEZ-503 has joined the party.

- 1:55pm CT: We’re less than 10 minutes away and live streamers watching the reveal on Twitch already have a combined 881,000 viewers.

- Aug. 27, 2026 at 1:20pm CT: Can you believe it? GTA 6’s reveal, after many years of anticipation, delays, hype, anger, and every emotion you can imagine, is here. Get ready to tune in on Netflix now or wait to see it on YouTube later today. Either way, get ready for people to dissect every frame of what we’re about to see.
