Geralt of Rivia hits Fortnite: Here’s how to unlock him

He’s finally ready

Recommended Videos

Ever since the launch of Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1, we’ve had teases of Geralt of Rivia entering the fray. So we waited. And waited. And now he’s here, as of February 7, 2023. As is the case with several other crossovers mid-season, Geralt is linked to the battle pass: so you’ll need it to unlock him. Thankfully though he’s on a completely separate track, so you aren’t required to level up the core battle pass at all.

Here’s a quick rundown on how to nab him.

How to complete the quests/challenges and unlock Geralt

After finishing all of the page one quests (below), you’ll unlock the Geralt outfit/character. All five quests are available as of February 7, 2023 to finish during Chapter 4 Season 1.

Activate reality augments in five different matches

This one is really straightforward: just play five matches and last long enough to trigger one augment (one of the gimmicks of the season)

We have a full augment guide here.

Complete three bounties

Bounties are still the same as they’ve been for quite some time in Fortnite, and you’ll need to head to a bounty board to start this questline.

Kick off every match at a point of interest/named location on the map and you’ll spot bounty boards very easily. Remember that your target needs to die by any means to get the “completion,” so don’t stress too much about hunting them down. Getting bounties right after starting a match will ensure easy clears.

Defeat a boss

One of the easiest targets is the Ageless Champion in The Citadel.

Just swoop in early, and tag it to get credit. The Ageless Champion has major issues with height differentials, so gaining he high ground (ha) will help you clear him easily. Just retreat if he goes near you.

Emote in the Citadel throne room

The Citadel throne room can be reached directly by parachuting into it at the start of a match. Use this opportunity to take out the Ageless Champion too!

Deal 500 melee weapon damage to opponents

As is the case with many challenges, getting a Shockwave Hammer is a surefire way to get a lot of melee damage in fast (and it can swipe at multiple enemies). One of the best ways to acquire one is in The Citadel. We have a full guide on it here!

Of course, you can just use your standard pickaxe (especially when you drop in at the start in a group of enemies). Another trick is to fly to the very end of the bus route, then pickaxe the AFK players (and swim to shore).

Page two of Geralt’s questline (with more cosmetics) is coming on February 28

While you can unlock Geralt now, additional cosmetic options won’t open up until February 28. An “alt style” for Geralt has been teased, much like prior mid-season character drops.

Such is the way of Fortnite!
