Genshin Impact: Best Raiden teams for DPS, hypercarry, Hyperbloom, and more

Time to join the Shogunate.

Raiden Shogun is an extremely flexible 5-star unit in Genshin Impact. She’s playable on-field as an Electro DPS or off-field as a Hyperbloom trigger. Between the two playstyles, there are a variety of teams to build around the Archon. Let’s explore some of Raiden’s most effective teams in Genshin.

Electro DPS/driver Raiden teams

Raiden, as an Electro DPS and driver, is the easiest to play, especially without Constellations. In this role, she uses her Skill to buff teammates, then her Burst. Her Normal and Charged Attacks follow to deal damage. Raiden packs a punch on her own, but a significant portion of the team’s overall damage comes from off-field DPS units like Xingqiu, Yelan, and Xiangling.

  • Raiden – Xingqiu/Yelan – Xiangling – Bennett
  • Raiden – Xingqiu – Yelan – Bennett
  • Raiden – Yae Miko – Kujou Sara/Kazuha – Bennett

The main takeaway is to pair Raiden with one or more off-field DPS units, preferably ones that deal heavy Burst damage. This means she has particular synergy with Xingqiu, Yelan, and Xiangling, but can also work with Fischl, Yae Miko, or Furina. If you choose Furina though, make sure you have a team-wide healer, since Bennett probably won’t cut it. Unfortunately, Raiden can’t trigger Beidou’s coordinated attacks due to a technicality with how her Burst works.

Best hypercarry Raiden teams

A hypercarry team stacks multiple buffs on Raiden to make her the primary damage dealer in the team. Hypercarry Raiden plays similarly to Electro DPS/driver Raiden — she just has more buffs and deals a lot more damage.

While you can play hypercarry Raiden at Constellation 0, these teams really shine with Raiden at Constellation 2 and above with heavy artifact investment. After all, a hypercarry has to carry the rest of the team. If you find that your Raiden’s personal damage is lacking, you might be happier with one of the driver teams above.

  • Raiden – Kazuha – Bennett – Kujou Sara/Lisa
  • Raiden – Chevreuse – Bennett – Kujou Sara/Lisa
  • Raiden – Furina – Kazuha – Baizhu

Lisa may seem like an odd choice, but if your Sara is not Constellation 6, then Lisa with Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers may actually be the better option. Lisa’s Ascension 4 passive is a rare source of DEF shred, and Thrilling Tales provides a significant 48% ATK buff to the next character who switches in (Raiden).

Best Hyperbloom Raiden teams

Hyperbloom teams can use Raiden’s Skill as a consistent source of Electro to trigger Hyperblooms. You can add practically any combination of Dendro and Hydro teammates to make this work, since Raiden herself demands no field time. As a pure Hyperbloom trigger, Raiden simply uses her Skill, then leaves the field for her teammates to apply Dendro and Hydro.

Hyperbloom Raiden uses a unique build that goes all-in on Elemental Mastery with no regard for other stats.

  • Raiden – Xingqiu – Yelan – Baizhu
  • Raiden – Xingqiu/Yelan – Kokomi – Nahida
  • Raiden – Nahida – Dendro Traveler – Ayato
  • Raiden – Xingqiu/Yelan – Baizhu – Alhaitham

If you like, you can swap out one of the Dendro or Hydro teammates for a Cryo, Anemo, or Geo character. These elements don’t interfere much with Dendro reactions, allowing you to swap them in when necessary. Diona or Layla can provide some valuable survivability, while Sucrose or Kazuha can apply buffs/debuffs and group enemies together. Zhongli’s shield has the added benefit of lowering enemy Dendro RES, making your Hyperblooms deal more damage.

Best Aggravate Raiden teams

So you like Dendro but don’t want to make Raiden an Elemental Mastery bot? Try an Aggravate team instead! Raiden in Aggravate teams still uses her Burst and stays on-field for Normal/Charged Attacks. Since she will be triggering Aggravate, Raiden can benefit from some Elemental Mastery from her artifacts, but she should mostly still build for ATK and CRIT.

  • Raiden – Fischl – Sucrose – Baizhu/Yaoyao
  • Raiden – Furina – Nahida – Jean/Sayu
  • Raiden – Nahida/Dendro Traveler – Kazuha/Venti – Zhongli

Having a Hydro teammate will result in some Hyperblooms, but these teams should still be played with Raiden on-field. Since Raiden isn’t built with full Elemental Mastery, your Hyperblooms will be smaller, but I just see them as free bonus damage.

Best free to play Raiden teams

Raiden is extremely free to play friendly. One of her best weapons is a free 4-star Polearm, and many of her best teams feature 4-star characters. Here are a few teams to try out if you’re on a budget!

  • Raiden – Xingqiu – Dendro Traveler – Yaoyao
  • Raiden – Xingqiu – Xiangling – Bennett
  • Raiden – Chevreuse – Bennett – Kujou Sara/Lisa
  • Raiden – Sucrose – Dendro Traveler – Kuki Shinobu
