Freakyforms Deluxe, Dillon’s 2 and Mario AR app for eShop

Japan gets all three in April

Nintendo is continuing their push to put their download services up front with three first party titles hitting Japan soon. Dillon’s Rolling Western: The Last Ranger and Freakyforms Deluxe will both be released on the 3DS eShop on April 10th. Floating Iwata head was quick to show off that Freakforms could be used to recreate Super Mario Bros. 1, albeit in a pseudo-doodle, goofy-fail sort of way.

That led to a segway into the announcement of new pre-paid eShop cards that double as AR cards for a new Mario AR app for the 3DS. It doesn’t look like you can do anything too “new” with the AR effect here. It looks like the same “place a card somewhere, watch a videogame character pop out of it” routine we’ve seen since the 3DS launched, but it’s still a nice touch. I imagine that those with a love for all things Mario will buy every card just to scratch that collector’s itch. From there, they’ll just have to download some actual games I guess. Mario, Luigi, Peach, Goomba, Koopa, and Bowser cards are the only ones announced so far, but that should be enough to start with.

Chances are we’ll be getting all three of these new eShop downloads soon enough, so stay tuned.
