That’s not a knife
As Konami is seemingly intent on giving Metal Gear‘s Hideo Kojima the boot (this is a Simpsons Australia joke despite Bayou Billy being from Louisiana), many are mourning one of the most memorable videogame companies falling into disarray.
Well, there’s always profiting off your past successes, Konami.
Siliconera spotted NES game The Adventures of Bayou Billy on the Australian Classification Board with Nintendo listed as the publisher, hinting at a Virtual Console (Wii U? 3DS?) release for the 26-year-old brawler.
But what’s old is new again. Bayou Billy, with its three endings, inscrutable story, swamp setting (thanks to this c-blog for filling me in) — this is basically Metal Gear Solid 3 before Kojima even came up with the idea. What better for today’s fast and furious climate than Billy’s brand of “street-fight, gun-shooting, car-action?” Bayou Billy is set in the Big Easy (look Big Easy, it’s Regular Easy!) and full of “triple hard action.” Konami, re-hire Bayou Billy‘s designers. Or don’t, and just reboot it. Do it. Do it, Konami.
DO IT.
