Here’s a look at Halo: The Fall of Reach – The Animated Series out of San Diego Comic-Con.

An adaptation of Eric Nylund’s 2001 novel, it will explore the origin of the Master Chief and Blue Team. Considering those same characters are involved in Halo 5: Guardians, it makes sense that 343 Industries would want to retell this story with Sequence (the studio behind the Terminals).

“Without getting into the weeds, we’ve been careful to align with the novel where it makes sense, but in visualizing the universe – which has evolved so much in the intervening years – we were presented with a few challenges, but also a lot of opportunities,” said Frank O’Connor. “So you’ll see a few differences, choices of Covenant ship, weapons and so on, but it adheres tightly to the core canon, with a few flourishes here and there to fill in gaps or smooth over previous errors.”

The Fall of Reach will be included with the Digital Deluxe Edition, Limited Edition, and Limited Collector’s Edition of Halo 5. If you’re passing on all of those, you’ll also be able to watch the animation through the Halo Channel starting October 27, 2015.
