How to make cold resistant food in Tears of the Kingdom

One of the best ways to survive the cold inĀ Tears of the KingdomĀ is to eat meals that provide cold resistance. Spicy Sauteed Peppers is an easy dish to make at any cooking pot. All you need is to cook at least one Spicy Pepper to give Link cold resistance for two minutes and 30 seconds. Every pepper you add to the recipe will add another two minutes and 30 seconds to your cold resistance.

You can find Spicy Peppers in bushes or inside tundra areas. For example, you can pick up six peppers nearby the Pit Cave that’s east of Nachoyah Shrine on the Great Sky Island. To cook them, open your menu and choose the “Hold” option after you select the Spicy Pepper. Exit the menu, and press A to drop the ingredient(s) in a pot above a lit fire. You’ll receive your dish after a short jingle plays.

For those tight spots when cold resistance is about to run out, a Portable Pot Zonai Device can save you in a pinch. With this sent out, you can cook one meal with the Portable Pot before it disappears.

Where to find warm clothes in Tears of the Kingdom

Take this advice from someone who’s lived in Alberta, Canada with -22F weather: wear warm clothes in these wintry areas of the map. One of the first pieces of warm clothing you’ll find in Tears of the KingdomĀ is the Archaic Warm Greaves. They might not provide good defense, but they can keep Link warm enough to run through the snow.

To find these, warp to Gutanbac Shrine and look immediately to your right. You’ll see a tree trunk at the top of the mountainous area. Use Ascend to get to the tree trunk, and then you’ll find the Archaic Warm Greaves in a chest inside. Equip these and Link will be prepared for a trek.

Rito Village is also a source of warm clothes if you need to survive the cold but want stronger armor. Be warned, however. It is expensive. You can find Rito Village by traveling northwest of Hyrule Castle. It’s also north of the Tabantha Frontier. Up the tree village, you’ll notice a shop. Kheel will sell you all kinds of armor, including the Snowquill Headdress (650 Rupees), Snowquill Tunic (500 Rupees), and Snowquill Trousers (1,000 Rupees). These will all give you Cold Resistance.

If all else fails, build a fire or creating fire arrows

An alternative (albeit cumbersome) method to resist the cold in Tears of the KingdomĀ is by making a fire or creating fire arrows. Gather some Flint (from caves) and wood (from chopped trees) and place them down on the ground. If they’re close in proximity, strike both of the resources and they’ll burst into flame. You can then rest Link at this campfire, but it will go out when he awakens.

You can also make a flame by holding a wooden weapon into the flames. It will act like a torch until the wood burns. In addition, you can add fire to your arrows. Equip the bow and arrow, and while you’re aiming, hold up on the D-Pad. You can then place a fiery object like a Fire Fruit on the arrow. Once you’re ready, fire the arrow at grass. Make sure you don’t burn yourself!
