Disney pleased with Disney Infinity launch sales

Two weeks, 294,000 starter packs sold in the US

I’ve been especially curious to hear how Disney Infinity has been selling considering how much of an investment it’s been — upwards of $100 million, reportedly. Whether it ultimately fails or succeeds as more Disney-owned properties are introduced (Star Wars? Marvel?) and we get closer to the holiday season is up in the air, but we do know what the launch has been like.

A representative told GamesIndustry International that “Disney Infinity sales are off to a strong start, selling 294,000 starter pack units in the US during the last two weeks of August.” These packs are $74.99, mind you. “We’re very pleased with the launch in both the U.S. and globally, and believe Disney Infinity is well-positioned for the critical holiday sales season.”

I’m personally holding out for a more diverse character line-up since I have zero intention of attempting to collect ’em all. The opposite is true, in fact. Take as little of my money as possible!
