Deus Ex getting edits, bonuses for Japanese release

Deus Ex: Human Revolution might not be a Japanese game, but sure as hell it’s coming to Japan, if Square Enix has anything to say about it. However, it won’t be entering the country unscathed. Its content will need a couple of nips and tucks before it can clear a “Z” rating from CERO, Japan’s ratings board. For the curious, a “Z” would stick at the high end of the ESRB’s “M” range, up to an “AO”.

As for the content to be cut, a cutscene that shows a character’s “organs being exposed” will be edited, and a “sexual object” will be removed from one of the game’s levels. Japanese censorship laws ban that sick filth, so it’s got to go.

On the plus side, the game will be shipping with all of the preorder DLC, additional missions, and weapons already unlocked. The PS3 version will also have the English voice track available. Would-be reverse importers should note that all the text will in Japanese.

I have to wonder what the “sexual object” being removed is. This demands some kind of comparison!
