Getting a 3DS and need accessories? Mad Catz is on the case. Or, they’re making cases for the 3DS. They’re making cases, styluses and screen protectors. I saw their new line-up at CES yesterday, where all of this was on display. There’s a cool camera style (movable soft dividers) 3DS cased called the Traveller. For about $20 it will hold your 3DS, cables, stylus and a ton of games. The smaller Microsuede Wallet is more my speed. It holds 3 games and has a snap on the front to keep your 3DS secure. They’ll also sell a 3-pack of extendable styluses (styli for the losers) and a 3-pack of screen guards as well as a combo containing both. Mad Catz tells us that these accessories will hit shelves right at the 3DS launch.
I also saw their new Reactor and Reactor Micro Wii controllers. Everyone has a Wii controller offering these days, but I like these with their diamond shaped d-pad and their offset 1 and 2 buttons. I love the angle that they’re at when held sideways. It reminded me of my beloved NES MAX controller.
The Micro is for smaller hands as they’re 15 percent smaller than the standard controller, and they have a nice hand feel. Both size offerings will come with Wii Motion Plus support and both come with Mad Catz Gripz silicone covering. These will be in stores this March for about $34.99. Mad Catz Reflex Nunchucks in both sizes will also be available at the same time.
There was also a 20th anniversary Sonic the Hedgehog inductive charger for the Wii. These are so limited that they’re actually numbered, so you had better track one down now. Magnets in the base lock the Wii Remotes in the exact place they need to be to charge.
