Captain Toad is coming to Switch and 3DS

Split joy-con play, too

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker will be heading to Nintendo 3DS and Switch this year. While the 3DS version has no release date yet, the Switch version will be coming July 13 (same as Octopath). To entice Wii U players to double dip, this new port will include levels based on Mario Odyssey. There will also be split joy-con play on Switch, though not a full blown co-op mode.

I actually quite enjoyed the Wii U version, though I can’t say I won’t miss the Wii U gamepad. One of the best parts of the game was the on-rails shooter minecart where the TV displayed a larger view and let you coordinate shots on the gamepad. Even without asymmetrical play, though, Captain Toad is a blast.
