Bionic Commando rated by Australian Classification Board

It must be hard for publishers trying to keep a lid on certain upcoming releases when, a lot of the time, the game is simply dropped into the public consciousness via classification rating. Or perhaps these regular leaks are part of a greater marketing scheme, meant to give fans a welcome surprise. Either way, something under the name of Bionic Commando has been rated PG by the Australian Classification Board for “Mild Science Fiction Violence.”

Looking a little deeper, the publisher is Nintendo. And since there seems to be no subtitle for the game, the basic name of “Bionic Commando” would suggest that this is possibly a re-release of the original 1988 NES classic rather than another entry in the Rearmed series or another reboot.

Whether this is destined for WiiWare or the 3DS eShop (the rating states “multi-platform”), this is good news for fans of the retro hit. Now, only time will tell whether all the Nazi references from the Famicom version will be put back in. Probably not.
