Atlus picks up EarthBound-inspired Citizens of Earth

After its unsuccessful run on Kickstarter

It’s been said before that a “failed” Kickstarter isn’t the end — that every dollar matters even if the total amount raised ultimately falls short. That’s true for Eden Industries’ Citizens of Earth, a role-playing game which didn’t meet its crowdfunding goal. No sweat. Publisher Atlus is pitching in to help make the game happen for PC, Wii U, PS4, PS Vita, and 3DS this year.

As the newly-elected Vice President of the World, you’ll recruit some 40 citizens of varying professions — there aren’t any non-playable characters in the game — and each is said to have a “unique play-style and out-of-combat world abilities.” The whole world has gone mad and it’s up to you and your followers to set things straight. The official website‘s story description even mentions something about overthrowing a puppy government as part of the proceedings.

Forget President Cat. I want my elected officials to be puppies.
