Animal Crossing gets the first wave of amiibo cards

All home decor, no chores

This fall, Nintendo plans to roll out its much-talked about amiibo cards. These let players forego the difficult to obtain amiibo, and just buy (presumably cheaper) cards. It’s currently unknown if amiibo figures will release that correspond to the cards.

The first title to use these will be Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer. The game looks like it’ll boil down to all the decoration of Animal Crossing with none of the chores. Nintendo said nothing of the release date apart from a nebulous fall window.

On the same day as the cards debut, Nintendo will also release an NFC card reader for 3DS and 2DS in order to register the cards. There’s no word yet on how much this accessory might cost.
